Montblanc Patron Of Art Homage to Victoria & Albert Limited Edition 4810
Product description
Every year since 1992, Montblanc has honored a historical patron of art—including Moctezuma I to Henry E. Steinway and Napoléon Bonaparte—with a limited-edition writing instrument. For its 30th (1992 – 2022) and final edition, Montblanc celebrates the lives and legacy of Victoria and Albert with a couple edition.
As Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and later Empress of India, and Prince Consort of Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha, Victoria and Albert ruled not only an empire but an era. They ushered in a new age of technology, economic power and culture. The high point of this innovative period was marked by the legendary Great Exhibition of 1851 in London’s Crystal Palace and the founding of several cultural institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Albert Hall.
Leaning into the craftsmanship of Montblanc artisans, the collection charts Victoria’s journey from princess to one of the most powerful ruler of the day, and Albert’s journey from young prince to Prince Consort. The editions feature famous symbols such as Victoria’s crown and sceptre, but also some of Albert’s greatest cultural achievements. The intense love they shared is symbolized by the linked initials V&A and her engagement ring used in the design of the writing instruments.
The Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Victoria & Albert Limited Edition 4810 marks the early years of the royal couple with a barrel in pearl-white lacquer, a symbol of purity and youth, and a cone embellished with a traditional Victorian pattern as well as “V&A”, mirroring the way the couple like to unite their initials.
The edition dedicated to Victoria features a cap in translucent mint-green lacquer, one of her favourite colours to wear. The Victorian decorative pattern visible beneath the lacquer of the cap is inspired by the fence surrounding the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, London. The cap is adorned by a royal-blue crown and the Montblanc emblem in precious resin. The words “I will be good” are engraved on the cap ring. The shape of the clip is inspired by her sceptre with a green stone referring to her engagement ring from Albert. The handcrafted 18 karat solid gold, champagne-tone gold-coated nib is decorated with a stylised rose in honour of Queen Victoria, still remembered today as “England’s Rose”.
Restricted to 4810 pieces, representing the height of the Mont Blanc mountain in metres, the Patron of Art Limited Edition 4810 fountain pen is an extraordinary limited edition. This 30th edition will also be the final edition that Montblanc will launch in the Patron of Art series.
The name Montblanc has always been associated with precious gifts and keepsakes that reflect the pinnacle of artisanal prowess and traditional craftsmanship.
