Dark green marbled lacquer punctuated with platinum-plated fittings. These are the style features of the new Writers Edition in honour of the distinguished Irish free thinker George Bernard Shaw. This fountain pen is inspired by Shaw’s best-known character from his play “Pygmalion”: Eliza Doolittle. Just as Eliza, a poor flower girl, is brought up to be an aristocratic lady, so the fine platinum of the pen is replaced more and more towards the cap by the opulent dark green of the precious resin.

The engraved 1888 on the barrel ring – next to Vincent’s signature in bright orange – commemorates the year when he moved to Arles.
While the barrel is decorated in shades of yellow and orange reflecting the sun-drenched landscapes of southern France, the famous series of five sunflower paintings inspired the interpretation embossed on the handcrafted Au 750 solid gold, rhodium-coated nib.
Van Gogh developed a looser, freer style and becoming equally competent with brush and palette knife – which he used for chunky, impetuous “impasto” work.
His palette knife inspired the platinum-coated clip, while his sweeping brushwork is immortalized in the yellow lacquer of the cap top. Furthermore, his fondness for pipe smoking, to which he referred in many of his self-portraits, is captured in a subtle detail of the clip: the upper part is shaped like a pipe’s bowl and filled with yellow precious resin.
As homage for Vincent’s fascination of traditional Japanese woodblock prints, the overall shape is inspired by a Japanese woodcutting knife while the cap is made from wood. The edition is crowned by a Montblanc emblem made of yellow precious resin.

Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson
Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson Limited Edition Packagin
The black precious resin barrel is decorated with engraved crosses, including a larger “X” like the one marking the location of the treasure on a map. Vertical lines that bring to mind the planks of the schooner “Hispaniola” and a traditional sea chest adorn the cap of the Writers Edition.
Behind the platinum-coated clip, the lines converge in a compass rose, while the clip imitates the shape of a belaying pin, to which the lines of a ship’s rigging would be secured. The cap top is crowned by the Montblanc emblem emblazoned with the pirate’s symbol, a skull and crossbones, elevated at its centre.
The cap ring is adorned with an engraving of Stevenson’s signature alongside the publication date of his first work “The Pentland Rising”, 1866. The years of Robert Louis Stevenson’s life, 1850-1894, are engraved on the cap.
As a reference to Robert Louis Stevenson’s passion for seafaring and his re-settlement in the South Seas, the handcrafted solid Au 750 gold rhodium-coated nib is engraved with fine waves and the title given by the Samoans to the great writer and world traveller, “Tusitala”.
MONTBLANC WRITERS EDITION SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE
In this first version, precious resin with ruthenium-coated details frame the cap and barrel. Its main motif evokes the original tartan fabric of the great Sherlock Holmes. Above him, parts of a map of Victorian London, indicating the streets Upper Wimpole Street -location of Arthur Doyle’s medical office- and Baker Street -home of Sherlock Holmes-. The gray color of the resin is reminiscent of the dark and foggy streets of London, often described in the Sherlock Holmes mysteries.
After the clip, the initials JB are a reference to Joshua Bell, the author’s professor of Medicine. A true master of deduction and diagnosis, which inspired Doyle for his well-known character Sherlock Holmes. On the magnifying glass, a red lacquer dot represents an ophthalmoscope, evoking the medical specialty to which the writer dedicated himself.
The ring decorated with Doyle’s signature stands out on the cap. In addition, it shows the vine symbol on the cover of “A Study in Scarlet”, the fhttps://ibericapens.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=product_cat&post_type=productirst story starring Sherlock Holmes, and the date on which the publishers wrote to Sir Arthur to inform him that they were going to publish this novel: “Oct. 30, 1886”.
This edition is completed with a ruthenium-coated 18-carat solid gold nib that, in addition to Doyle’s portrait, presents that of the pterodactyls from “The Lost World”, a science fiction novel about an expedition to a high plateau in the Amazon basin in which prehistoric animals still survive.
