Lacquer has been used in Japan for thousands of years.
Japanese Urushi is crafted over ebonite and lacquered using only pure Urushi lacquer.
Like its Namiki pens, Pilot uses a lacquering technique called Roiro, which requires substantial time and skill to create a uniform, mirror-like finish.
Each Urushi pen is lacquered, and polished three times to create a high-quality result.
