The Delta Adivasi Limited Edition is the tenth contribution, as Series VI, to the Indigenous People collection, with which the Italian brand celebrates the permanence of human ethnic groups in today’s world.
Adivasi, which is the Hindi word that collectively means the aboriginal peoples of India, hunters and farmers who have always lived in the central and eastern states of India, mainly on the banks of the Narmada River, one of the seven sacred rivers.
Fully independent in the pre-colonial period, with the arrival of landowners and merchants with the arrival of independence in the first place, and industrialization and modernization after 1947, they were deprived of their land, despite the good will of the Prime Minister. Trying to avoid their acculturation by the Ari (owners of their territory) they take refuge in the mountainous and forested areas, the adivasis continue to live according to the tradition of hunting, fishing and gathering, but their spaces have been reduced increasingly due to the abusive power of the Indian State that is the true owner of the land: a huge and terrifying project for the creation of 3,200 dams on the Narmada River whose realization has flooded territories and traditions of this proud nation.
